FULVIO TORNESE

Fulvio Tornese was born in Lecce where he attended the High School of Art.

While still a student he completed his artistic training at the studio of the painter and graphic artist Giancarlo Moscara. He later graduated in Architecture at the University of Florence. He currently works at the University of Salento.

His intense planning activity is accompanied by his artistic research, which, from the very beginning situates him in the contemporary art world. His painting production has been carried out steadily since his debut, with traceable formal references in the Italian 20th century,  Pop Art, comics, giving life to urban landscape, some fragments of crooked imaginary cities inhabited by solitary figures.

His works are made using traditional techniques on supports such as canvas, paper and board with sizes, ranging from monumental altarpieces to small formats and watercolors; the later years part of his research oriented towards digital painting.

Starting from 1984 he has presented his works in solo band group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. In 2005 he joined the “13 x 17”. To be rated among his most important exhibits, his solo exposition at the Italian embassy in Kuwait in 2007; the one in Beijing, organized by Tartaglia Arte Roma and Fucina Italian - Chinese Association  at Italy Point in Today Art Museum. In 2015 he exhibited with the curation of Melina Scalise at the “Casa Museo Tadini” space in Milan. In 2019 he exhibited at the Espace7 Gallery in Paris with the curation of Chantal Lora.
